GRADUATING - Jennie Horne Cece Award

Graduating – The Jennie Horne Cece Award: Raised at a time when education was thought unnecessary for girls, Jennie, a young girl of extraordinary intelligence, was withdrawn from school while in the 8th grade, having just enough education to enable her to work in the family store. She never again had the chance for a formal education but studied all manner of subjects on her own. Donated by her children, an award of $250 is given to a person of extraordinary dedication, a graduate form the Displaced Homemaker Program who is a working mother, raising Children, and attending classes at the same time.
